DOP is a short for Protected Designation of Origin and its ensures that products are locally grown and packaged. Actually there is a particular law that dictates that only DOP products can carry the word ” traditional” on their labels and only if they adhere to local traditions. For this reason the DOP label may bring a higher price tag with it and promise at the same time the highest levels of quality.
